Sara is a full time artist, maker and van dweller with a lovely little studio in Hebden Bridge. We have worked with her for a few years now and every basket she weaves for us is so special.
Her LBV is her home on wheels equally fashioned from items left over by others, resulting in a simple existence that eases her environmental consciousness, facilitates her creative practice and explorations of the wild places she loves.
A basket takes a long time to make. The willows are coppiced from stools 10 years old and berries have ripened through the summer. Nettle is cut in August, dried and twined into cordage through winter months and clay, acorns buried, must be worked and fired into beads. Sara could spend her whole life gathering and making such things. Every walk is an opportunity to find treasure.
This is a shoulder basket weaved in willow with dried oak galls and a vintage Boy Scout belt 'Be Prepared'
Size: approx 26cms tall, 22cms opening with a 29cms base.
